Call on Zahid to withdraw his statement that UMNO leaders are prepared to “wade through floods” if 15GE held during monsoon and floods disasters to prove that UMNO is still a responsible and people-oriented party
I call on the UMNO President, Zahid Hamidi, to withdraw his statement that UMNO leaders are prepared to “wide through floods” if the 15th General Election is held during monsoon and floods disasters to prove that UMNO is still responsible and people-oriented party.
The first four UMNO Presidents, Onn Jafaar, Tunku Abdul Raman. Razak Hussein and Hussein Onn would never have said such a thing and regard the loss of 54 lives and RM6.5 billion losses to property as happened last year because of monsoon and floods catastrophe as an irrelevant trifle which should be disregarded, and shows how different is UMNO today under Zahid Hamidi from the UMNO in its founding years.
Nobody had dared to challenge the observation of an UMNO watcher that in the early days of UMNO, it would be difficult to find a millionaire among UMNO division leaders. After over six decades of Independence, it would be difficult to find an UMNO division leader who is not a millionaire.
Who has really benefitted from UMNO all these decades – the ordinary Malays and ordinary Malaysians or the UMNO-putras like Zahid Hamidi?
Now we have the further example of Zahid Hamidi making light of the lives that could be lost and the billions of ringgit damage to properties of the people that could be caused by monsoon and floods disasters – a position that the first four UMNO leaders would never have taken.
No wonder UMNO has made Malaysia into a kleptocratic heaven on earth – which the four first UMNO leaders would never have done.
Can UMNO return to the principles and sacrifices of the first four UMNO leaders – of service before self?
