Holding of 15GE when there is monsoon and massive flood disasters will be valid and proper reason for the Yang di Pertuan Agong to refuse dissolution of Parliament unless there is a vote of no-confidence motion in Parliament
UMNO President Zahid Hamidi is very insistent that the 15th General Election be held this year, even UMNO leaders have to wade through flood waters – but Zahid did not say what UMNO leaders are going to do if flood waters are too high for them to wade through.
Zahid’s desperation to have 15th General Election is so blatant that he is oblivious of the massive damage and lives lost caused by the monsoon and floods.
Last year, the country suffered colossal losses of up to RM6.5 billion due to floods in the Klang Valley and multiple states – RM1.4 billion to residences, RM500 million to RM600 million worth of damage to business premises, and RM1 billion to RM1.3 billion of damage to vehicles, RM2 billion losses to public assets and infrastructures, and RM800 million to RM1 billion worth of damage to the manufacturing industry and over RM40 million damages in the agriculture sector. The casualties were 54 lives.
Isn’t the responsibility of a government, especially one sloganeering “Keluarga Malaysia”, to give priority to reduce the losses and casualties which could be caused by the monsoon and the floods this year than to hold an early general election?
I will say that the proposed holding of 15th General Election when there is monsoon and massive flood disasters will be valid and proper reason for the Yang di Pertuan Agong to refuse dissolution of Parliament unless there is a vote on a motion of no-confidence in the Prime Minister in Parliament
And if there is a vote of no confidence motion in Ismail Sabri as the Prime Minister in Parliament, it opens up a vista of various possibilities which can exclude the holding of general election at the end of the year.
