The PAS President, Hadi Awang, is giving Islam a bad name – telling lies and untruths, acting like a chameleon and going against the mainstream of Islamic development.
As Pakatan Harapan chairman, Anwar Ibrahim said last night, Hadi is aware the DAP is not communist or pro-communist.
When did Hadi discover the DAP is communist or pro-communist?
Hadi, Anwar and I signed a communiqué on the formation of Pakatan Rakyat forming a coalition PAS, PKR and DAP in 2008, but Pakatan Rakyat ended following the June 2015 PAS Muktamar when PAS leaders under Hadi cut ties with the DAP.
When did DAP become communist or pro-communist? Was it before 2008 and after 2015, or was DAP communist or pro-communist all along in the Pakatan Rakyat between 2008-2015.
Hadi claims to know more about the DAP than the Special Branch in Malaysia, which has made a name for itself in the world for Malaysia’s victory against the communists.
I was twice detained under the Internal Security Act (ISA) but neither the DAP leadership nor I was ever accused of being “communist” or “pro-communist”.

Hadi is giving Islam a bad name by coming out with ridiculous statements like: “We (PAS) don’t like DAP as it is communist. But when we were friends with DAP, it was okay. When we cooperated with Bersatu and Umno, then DAP became communists again,”
When DAP co-operated with Nik Aziz and Fadzil Noor, was DAP communist or pro-communist?
But giving Islam a bad name is not good enough for Hadi as he has made the further claim that he was the mastermind of the Sheraton Move conspiracy to bring down the Pakatan Harapan government in 2020.
He said that the Pakatan Harapan government tried to ratify ICERD and the Rome Statute as a result of DAP pressure and he approached Bersatu’s Muhyiddin Yassin to stage a change in government resulting in the Sheraton Move conspiracy.
But the fault in Hadi’s tall tale is that the DAP leadership knew nothing about the proposed ratification of ICERD and the Rome Staltute, although the blame was laid on the DAP’s doorsteps. Muhyiddin should know this or has he become a liar like Hadi?
None of the DAP leaders were in charge of portfolios concerning the ratification orf ICERD and Rome Statute, and I was as surprised as everybody else when the then Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad spoke at the UN General Assembly in Sept. 2018 about the ratification of UN covenants and treaties.
This was why I had repeatedly asked the Foreign Minister at the time Saifuddin Abdullah to state that the ratification fiasco in 2018 was solely the fruit of his own making and had nothing to do with the DAP.
Hadi seems to be unaware that 99 per cent of the 1.9 billion Muslims in the world live in countries which have ratified ICERD, as 55 of the 57 countries in the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC ) had ratified ICERD.
Is this the reason why Hadi, though the Prime Minister’s Special Envoy to the Middle East, is banned from Saudi Arabia and other Middle East countries?
Hadi has given notice that he will be a major player to make the 15GE full of toxic politics of lies, hatred, race and religion, seeking to tear plural Malaysia of many races, religions, languages and cultures apart.
We must not allow the extremist and soulless practitioners of toxic lies, hatred, race and religion to succeed.
