Hadi should explain why he is so irresponsible as to make the wild accusation that DAP is promoting Islamophobia when the OIC Islamophobia Observatory in unable to report a single case of Islamophobia in Malaysia although it had monitored all forms of Islamophobia in the world on a daily basis for the past 15 years?
The PAS President, Hadi Awang should explain why he is so irresponsible as to make the wild accusation that DAP is promoting Islamophobia when the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) Islamophobia Observatory in unable to report a single case of Islamophobia in Malaysia although it had monitored all forms of Islamophobia in the world on a daily basis for the past 15 years?
I have gone through the 14 reports on Islamophobia of the OIC Islamophobia Observatory since 2007, which are authoritative accounts of the problem of Islamophobia in the world, but I have not been able to find a single case of Islamophobia in Malaysia reported in the reports in the last 15 years.
I do not think Islam teaches its preachers and followers to tell lies and falsehoods, and it is the duty of Hadi Awang, as the PAS President, to clarify the matter.
As recounted by veteran journalist, Terence Netto two days ago, in 2013 Hadi led a coterie of PAS leaders to meet and urge Anwar Ibrahim to yield to PAS preference of Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah as their choice of prime minister — in the event Pakatan Rakyat won the 13th general election (GE13).
Hadi and this “coterie of PAS leaders” also met me but I declined to agree, stating that the DAP would abide by our commitment of Anwar Ibrahim as the Prime Minister-designate of Malaysia, or the DAP with PAS, as two of the three component parties in the Pakatan Rakyat coalition, would have prevailed on the question, although I did not know whether Hadi had secured any agreement among PKR leaders on the issue.
But this 2013 episode can be no justification for Hadi to hurl wild and reckless allegations of the DAP promoting Islamophobia.
I await Hadi’s response.
