Call for over 80% of the Balakong voters to come out in Sept. 8 by-election to vote for a New Malaysia and reject UMNO/BN plot to topple the Pakatan Harapan Government to return the UMNO/BN regime of corruption and abuses of power

DAP and Pakatan Harapan have fielded Wong Siew Ki as candidate for the Balakong by-election to carry on the great work of the late Eddie Ng as Selangor State Assembly representative for Balakong.

Although the Balakong voters do not expect Wong to be exactly like Ng, as Ng had been such an exemplary people’s representative that some voters say they will be satisfied if Wong can do 60 per cent of what Ng did, Wong’s hectic and punishing pace during the by-election campaign covering the constituency is a testament of Wong’s determination to do her best and to do better than 60 per cent of what Ng did.

In the recent Sungai Kandis by-election, the voter turn-out was below 50 per cent although during the May 9 general election, the voter-turn out in Sungai Kandis was 86%. In the May general election, the voter turnout in Balakong was even higher at 87%.

Wong has appealed to the Bakakong voters for a voter turnout on Sept. 8 of over 60 per cent. This is not high enough. I want to appeal to the voters of Balakong for a historic turnout of over 80 per cent, as the Balakang by-election has a national significant over and above than just electing the State Assembly representative for Balakong.

Malaysians have just celebrated Merdeka Day on August 31, and it was a celebration which was never like it in the past six decades.

Malaysians who were unconcerned and even indifferent in previous Merdeka Days were excited about the birth of a New Malaysia, a land where every Malaysian can feel proud to be a Malaysian.

Although Pakatan Harapan has peacefully and democratically replaced UMNO/BN as the Federal Government of Malaysia, UMNO/BN leaders and conspirators are doing their utmost to bring about the downfall of the Pakatan Harapan Federal Government before the 14th General Election by 2023, or even earlier, in a timetable of two years.

This is evident from Himpunan Melayu Bangkit (Malays Arise Rally) organsied by UMNO Pasir Salak yesterday where the former UMNO Deputy Minister and MP for Pasir Salak Datuk Tajuddin Abdul Rahman made a preposterous, provocative and incendiairy speech that Malays have lost power following the 14th general election and that the government has been replaced with one controlled by non-Malays.

This was the line that UMNO leaders, from the then Prime Minister and UMNO President, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, downwards had been shouting from the rooftops before the 14th General Election.

Have I become the Prime Minister of Malaysia, as Najib and other UMNO leaders had warned before the 14th General Election would be the case if Pakatan Harapan had won the polls?

Has Islam been replaced by Christianity as the official religion of Malaysia, according to the pre-general election propaganda of UMNO/BN leaders, alleging that DAP had a Christian agenda when Pakatan Harapan gained power – which is downright ridiculous when I am not a Christian myself!

Has Malaysia become a republic, as the DAP had also been accused of wanting to abolish the Malay Sultans?

The allegations that the Malays will lose political power, Islam will be in jeopardy and the Malay Sultans abolished are downrights lies and falsehoods, which are not only contemptible but criminal in wanting to destroy Malaysia as a plural society, as DAP had repeatedly declared support for the fundamental provisions of the Malaysian Constitutiton.

UMNO leaders the like of Tajuddin regard DAP as the enemy, and he is right, as the likes of Tajudddin are the greatest enemies of a united, harmonious, democratic, just, progressive and prosperous Malaysia which in the words of Bapa Malaysa, Tunku Abdul Rahman, could be “a beacon of light in a difficult and distracted world”.

UMNO conducted a three-day Kursus Asas Pembangkang Berkesan – Kem Ilmu in Janda Baik where the topics included “Simulasi Demonstrasi”, “Mind-setting sebagai Pembankang” and “Simulasi Laporan Polis”.

A mock demonstration at the Janda Baik kursus had gone viral in the social media, which is proof that the UMNO/BN leaders have decided to take the toxic and vicious politics of race, religion, hate, fear and lies to an unprecedented pitch as to qualify to be described as a “scorched earth” policy.

I urge the voters of Balakong to cast their vote on Sept. 8 with three objectives - One Vote, Three Messages – to reject the MCA, UMNO and PAS.

We need checks and balances in a mature democracy, but this is a role which MCA cannot play unless it is prepared to repudiate its past, particularly for aiding and abetting Najib in the crime and treachery of turning Malaysia into a global kleptocracy.

The Balakong voters must vote against UMNO for its “scorched earth” policy to take the toxic and vicious politics of race, religion, hate, fear and lies to an unprecedented end.

The third message is to reject the extremist line taken by the PAS President, Datuk Seri Hadi Awang who had asked PAS members to vote for the MCA candidate.

Let the voters of Balakong give a resounding verdict to vote for the future of Malaysia and reject the machinations of the UMNO/BN plot to topple the Pakatan Harapan Government and return to the UMNO/BN regime of corruption and abuses of power.
