Chang Yeow, do not show sully or tarnish the good name and memory of Chong Eu

At first I had wanted to ignore the statement issued by the Penang Gerakan Chairman, Teng Chang Yeow.

If Teng believes he is such a great or popular politician, how could he lose Padang Kota State Assembly seat which he had held for three terms from 1995-2008, and in the 2018 General Election, campaigning as a Penang Chief Minister-designate? It is most unthinkable.

In 2013, where did Chang Yeow contest?

He ran away from DAP’s Chow Kon Yeow to stand in Bukit Tengah, where he was again trounced by PKR’s Ong Chin Wen who won with a huge majority of 5,190 votes, while Chang Yeow secured only 33.1% of the votes cast.

Where would Chang Yeow contest in the 14GE?

Dare he go back to Padang Kota where he had been State Assemblyman for three terms?

Furthermore, why is Chang Yeow, who was designated as the Barisan Nasional Penang Chief Minister by none other than the Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi, acting as a fugitive looking for a seat to contest in the coming general election?

But what changed my mind about responding to Chang Yeow is to advise him not to sully or tarnish the good name and memory of Chong Eu.

Teng had taken strong objection to my statement that I believed that if Chong Eu is alive today, he would have left the dark side represented by the Barisan Nasional and crossed over to support the Pakatan Harapan’s campaign to save Malaysia from the trajectory of a failed, rogue and kleptocratic state.

Teng said Chong Eu was more principled than me and would not likely have swayed from his political leanings, questioning my “moral standing”.

I forgive Chang Yeow for he knows not what he said.

I had worked with three former Prime Ministers, Bapa Malaysia Tunku Abdul Rahman, Tun Hussein Onn and now Tun Mahathir Mohamad for principled and honourable objectives for the good of the country, and it is most unbecoming of Chang Yeow to malign the honour and objectives of these three former Prime Ministers, suggesting that they are unpatriotic or dishonourable.

It is sad to see a political party which had once claimed to be the “conscience” of the Barisan Nasional degenerating to the present status of sycophants to aid and abet kleptocracy.

I do not believe that Chong Eu would support kleptocracy or any global kleptocrat like Chang Yeow today.

I believe Chong Eu will turn in his grave if this is the result of all his decades of patriotic dedication and sacrifice for the betterment of the nation.
