Is another disappearance totaling five persons missing in past six months further proof Malaysia is in trajectory of a rogue state?

Malaysians are shocked that another social activist has gone missing, making a total of five persons missing in the past six months.

The latest case of missing person is Peter Chong, former aide of Subang MP R. Sivarasa.

Peter has been missing for more than three days. His son has reported to the police but to date there has been no news on his whereabouts.

Prior to Chong's disappearance, he had complained on Facebook about a motor-cyclist, who was a stranger, approaching him and warning him on March 31 about people vanishing.

The other four social activists who have disappeared since November are pastor Joshua Hilmy and wife Ruth, Perlis Hope activist Amri Che Mat and pastor Raymond Koh.

Such disappearances have never happened in the country in the past sixty years. What has happened to Malaysia and why are these disappearances happening now?

The Police have not been able to throw any light on the disappearances of these five persons, raising the question whether Malaysia is now set in the trajectory of a rogue state, where people can disappear in broad daylight without the authorities responsible for public law and order and the security of Malaysians able to stop the spate of missing persons or to assure citizens, investors and visitors that Malaysia is safe country to stay, visit or invest.

The Home Minister, Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi, should give this issue topmost priority and have an urgent meeting with the Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Abu Bakar Khalid to ensure that Malaysia is not in the trajectory of a rogue state, where people can disappear into thin air with the authorities unable to throw any light on the incidents whatsoever.
