I have been waiting for three days for proof that in my speech in Kota Bahru on Sunday, I had “hina Islam, hina hudud, hina Muslim, hina PAS” and none has been forthcoming, but I am prepared to wait for another 48 hours

I have been waiting for three days for proof that in my speech at the “Kukuhkan Pakatan, Hancurkan Barisan“ Ceramah Perdana organised by PAS Kota Baru on Sunday, I had “hina Islam, hina hudud, hina Muslim, hina PAS”, but none had been forthcoming.

But I am prepared to wait for another 48 hours for such proof to be furnished.

In fact, the transcript of my speech in Kota Baru is available on the Internet, on blog, tweet and FaceBook, and it should not be too difficult to point out where I had “hina Islam, hina hudud, hina Muslim, hina PAS” if I had in fact done so.

I thank Malaysians who have encouraged me with their comments that it was clear from the transcript that I had not been guilty of anyone of these three misdemeanours in my speech in Kota Bahru, for instance, the following comments on the DAP Facebook:

Pelaut Tua sya dgr ucapan lks dari mula sampai habis...apa yg kurang ajarnya....lks tak tentang hudud pun, tak anti islam pun,..soal bolih atau tak bolih laksana hudud dalam negara yg majmuk bolih dibincang kemudian

Afifi Albarr Tak faham, apa yang kurang ajarnya? Dia tak hina Islam, dia tak hina hudud, dia tak hina Muslim, dia tak hina PAS, dia cakap benda-benda yang ulama Islam sendiri cakap.

Norol Hayati Sy pun tak faham...kat mane dlm transcript ucapan lks yg menghina islam dan kenyataan yg kurang ajar? He makes effort to study and understand islam....kita ni yg islam bagilah contoh terbaik dan try to educate non muslim about the beauty of islam...sy rasa malu pulak baca komen2 by nik amar sekiranya betul statement tu dtg dr dia.

Akilah Yusoff Dengar betul2 la apa Kit Siang kata.. Aku tak tahu part mana yg menghina islam tu..

If I had committed any errors in my speech in Kota Baru on Sunday, whether in my reference to Sheikh Yusuf Al-Garadawi or Rashid al-Ghannushi, I am prepared to learn and stand corrected.

But no such correction had surfaced in the past three days.

I am surprised that my speech in Kota Baru had sparked a torrent of emotional and irrational reactions from some PAS leaders, to the extent that it is reported that some PAS leaders in Kelantan are considering banning DAP leaders from speaking in the state.

But I will wait for another 48 hours before I respond to some of the issues raised over my speech in Kota Baru.
