Hafiz the pride of all Malaysians for being
crowned All-England singles champion and bringing home the title after 37
years' wait
Media Statement
by Lim Kit Siang
(Petaling Jaya,
Tuesday):
Mohd Hafiz Hahsim is the pride of all Malaysians for being crowned
All-England singles champion and bringing home the title after 37 years'
wait.
Hafiz scored a historic win for himself and the country, as the last
Malaysian to lift the coveted title was Tan Aik Huang in 1966.
It is such feats which bring Malaysians together, regardless of their race,
religion, gender or political beliefs - a unifying bond which achieves more
in activating the well-springs of nationalism than all the artificial
lectures and slogans about patriotism and love for the country.
Congrats to Hafiz and may he rise to greater heights in the world of
badminton.
